Funeral services for Mr. Olaf Wendall Holmes, 94, will be held at 10 A.M. on Monday, May 28, 2018 from the Capps Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Dan Perry and Michael Knippers officiating. Burial will be in the New Zion Cemetery.
Mr. Holmes, a resident of Tylertown, passed away at the Billdora Senior Care Center on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. He was born May 16, 1924 in Tylertown, Mississippi to the late Clarence and Ophelia Fortenberry Holmes. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Rachel Hobgood Holmes; son Kerry Holmes; brothers Jewell, Hilton, Rex, Hollie, and Wilkie; and sisters Maxie, Ruth, and Thelma.
He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was the owner and operator of the Food Delite Grocery Store in Tylertown for many years. Mr. Holmes enjoyed taking care of his yard and being with his family.
Survivors include grandchildren Michelle (John) Landry, and Tricia (Tom) Vogtle; and great-grandchildren Philip Antosca, John Landry Jr, Jacob Landry, and Emily Landry.
Pallbearers will be John Landry, Jacob Landry, Jeb McBeth, Delbert Wood, Paul Fortenberry, and Winston Fortenberry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Morris LaCroix, Hubert Wood, Lynwood Dykes, Wyatt Fortenberry, Darrell Freeman, and Mark Martin.
Visitation will be at Capps Funeral Home on Monday, May 28, 2018 from 9:00 A.M. till service time there at 10:00 A.M.
