Funeral services for Mrs. Patricia Sue Balch Surber, 87, of Tylertown, MS will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Lexie Baptist Church in Tylertown, MS with Rev. Randall Griffin officiating. Burial will be in the Tylertown Cemetery II.

Mrs. Surber passed away in Chattanooga, TN on Saturday, December 8, 2018.  She was born October 25, 1931 in Balch, Arkansas to the late Paul Henry and Mamie Adella Gentry Balch.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Dr. Earl Howard Surber; daughter Janice Lynn Surber; sister Nancy E. Ewton; and brother Aubrey G. Balch.

Pat Surber received her high school diploma from Tech High School in Memphis, TN. She became a wife in 1950 to Earl Surber and a loving mother to four children over the next ten years. Pat was always an active member of a Baptist church. In 1967 her husband, Earl was called into the ministry to preach. She became a "Pastor's Wife". In each she taught various ages of Sunday School classes, directed or led the Women's missionary Programs and was a faithful visitor to hospitals, nursing homes, and those who were home-bound. Pat attended Nursing Program in Columbia hosted by Pearl River Community College in 1974. She was member of the ladies Hospital Auxiliary for years and was awarded the Ilene Jaubert Award for her outstanding community service in 1981. As she served the LORD and her neighbors, she enjoyed hobbies such as sewing, crocheting, cake decorating, reading, and hostessing showers and social church gatherings. Both Pat and Earl retired in 1994 and built a home in Tylertown. Grandma Surber, Pat, enjoyed being a grandmother and lived to meet all her great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children Victoria Liegh (Ken) Kile, Pamela Ann (Tommy) Shepherd, and Alan Wray (Amy) Surber; 8 grandchildren Charles (Kristie) Minor, Jay (Stephanie) Minor, Lee (Haley) Shepherd, Jacob (Janna) Shepherd, Catherine Shepherd, Cody (Ariana) McDonald, Katelyn (Jimmy) Surber Fox, and Joshua Surber; 17 great-grandchildren; sister Ann Geraldine; brother-in-law Jimmy Eugene Surber; numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.

Visitation will be at Hartman Hughes Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. until

8:00 P. M.

Pallbearers are Lee Shepherd, Joshua Surber, Jacob Shepherd, David Ferrell, Tommy Shepherd, and Ken Kile.
