It is with Deepest Sorrow & Shattered Hearts that we announce the death of our Daddy, Ray Charles (Rock) Graves, at the age of 93 on Sunday, December 26 th , 2021 at 5:30AM.
Survived by his loving Daughter Marsha Graves, Sons Randy Graves, Sr. and John Ripley Graves (Geri). Grandfather to Brandy Graves, Randy (RJ) Graves, Jr., Dustin Graves (Lisa) & Monique Graves Smithee. Step grandfather to Tonja Jackson Grimball, Korey & Kreg Jackson. Great grandfather to Dylan Ray Smithee, Donovan Seber, Autumn, Alexis, Michael & Anthony Graves & Sister Ethel Graves Brown. He also leaves behind many other relatives and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents John Otha Graves and Myrtis Lee Graves Simmons, and stepfather Milton Leslie Simmons. Wife Bonnie Fay "Ladybug" Copeland Graves. His siblings the late Ina Mae Graves Holmes, the late Helen Simmons Evans, the late Elvin Graves, the late Melvin Graves, the late Wyman Graves and the late Ralph Simmons. He is also preceded in death by his great-grandson, the late Baby Ray Anthony Graves, and his stepson Roger Dale Jackson who he loved & cared for as his own.
Ray proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He worked 29 years as a Parts Manager at Kaiser Aluminum and 10 years with the St. Bernard Parish Government in Chalmette, Louisiana before purchasing an 18-Wheeler spending 12 years on the road with his big Brother Elvin. What a ride that was! He also was honored and proud to be a thirty-second degree Mason, as well as a Shriner. Ray packed a lot of life, love, and experiences with a lifetime of great stories into his 93 years on this earth. He was a proud man and loved his wife and children with all his heart. He will be forever missed by all those he leaves behind. He was lovingly cared for by his daughter Marsha & granddaughter Monique for the last 3 years of his life.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, January 3rd, 2022 from 9:00AM - 12:00PM at Hartman Hughes Funeral Home, 412 Beulah Ave., Tylertown, MS. His services to be officiated by Eddie Davis, Chaplin beginning at 12:00PM and will be laid to rest with a Military Funeral held in his honor in the Tylertown Cemetery next to his loving wife Bonnie.
Pallbearers will be Randy Graves, Jr., Jeremy Sumrall, Darron Simmons, Wayne Lane, Eugene Hux, and Bob Comeaux. If needed additional pallbearers will be Jason Lambert, Randy Graves Sr. , and John Ripley Graves. Honorary pallbearer is Dana Sumrall.
