Rex Morris, 93 of Tylertown, MS passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025 at the Walthall County General Hospital. He was born Saturday, June 18, 1932 in Tylertown, MS during the Great Depression to the late Willie Morris and Nettie Hammond Morris. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Janis Herring Morris; infant son, John William Morris; brother, Ross Morris; sister, Pat Rimes; half-brothers, John Morris, Algy Morris, Chance Morris and Bud Morris; half-sisters, Mary Ladner, Ollie Reagan, and Lucille Stogner; and niece Gayle Grant (Ernie).

Survivors include his daughter, Connie Morris Dillon-Smith (Larry, Russell, and Kala); a bonus daughter Julia Lott (Dewey); nieces and nephews Ramona Tucker (Marshall), Libby McKenzie (Mike), Greg Rimes, David Rimes (Laurie), Wayne Herring (Kristi), Cindy Womack (Bruce), Gwen Luckey (Wes), and their extended families.

Mr. Rex married his beloved wife, Martha, and they shared 66 years together traveling to attend numerous gospel singings and sitting outdoors. Sunday mornings were often filled with the joyful sounds of the Happy Goodman Family singing. Mr. Rex was a skilled carpenter, electrician, livestock producer weighing cattle, and Superintendent of Dexter Water Association. Always in the background, Rex was helping those in need. As a simple man, Rex even in his wheelchair found peace in working in his flower beds and watching life from his front porch.  He enjoyed children and any opportunity to be around them and people that dropped by for a visit. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Crystal Springs Baptist Church, 941 Hwy 48, Tylertown, MS from 10:00 AM until funeral service at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Crystal Springs Cemetery. Bro. Danny Stevens will officiate. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 601-876-3712
