Richard Wayne Delrie, 77, fell asleep in Jesus at his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 6, 2018. Richard was born December 10, 1940 in Pineville, Rapides Parish, Louisiana, and was a resident of Dexter, Walthall County, Mississippi for the last 31 years.

Richard was a 1958 graduate of Tioga High School, Tioga, Louisiana. In 1964, he received an electronics degree from SOWELA Technical Institute, Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was a Vietnam War combat veteran having honorably served his country with the U.S. Army's 25th Infantry Div., Co. 'A,' 125th Signal Bn., in Cu Chi, South Vietnam. Richard was a Communications Technician with AT&T for nearly 32 years before retiring in 1999 and was a member of the Pioneers, the Bell System's non-profit charitable organization. He was baptized into Christ on April 6, 1974, and worshipped with the Ponchatoula, Louisiana church of Christ.

Leaving behind to cherish his memory is the "love of his life," his wife of 46 years, Evelyn Rosemary Buras Delrie of Dexter, Mississippi; two precious children, Timothy Ashley Delrie (Jessica Joann) of Laurel, Mississippi and Dr. Rachel Allison Delrie Forbes (William Edgar) of Dexter, Mississippi; five beautiful granddaughters: Ashleigh Joann Delrie, Abigail Rose Delrie, Cecilia Maie Delrie, Calla-Grace Marie Delrie, and Vivian Deborah Delrie. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Willie Ambrose Delrie and Bertha Myrtle Williamson Delrie Wilson; brothers John Robert Delrie, Hamp Eugene Delrie, and William "Bill" Marion Delrie. Richard will be sadly missed and remembered by all who knew and loved him. He was a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ; a man of sterling character having a gentle spirit, slow to anger, longsuffering, and ever ready to help those in need.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend an evening visitation at Capps Funeral Home, 270 Old Highway 98 E. Tylertown, MS 39667, on Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. until service time there at 2:00 P.M.
