Richard Lynn Fortenberry passed away on October 24, 2023 at the age of 82 at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. He was born on October 26, 1940 to Stanley and Frankie Seale Fortenberry in Tylertown, Mississippi. Richard began his career with the Walker and Dollar General stores before moving to Tylertown with his wife Betty Jean Alford Fortenberry and son Steven in 1972. He purchased Central Tomato Co. in 1980 in McComb which he ran until his retirement in 2007.

Visitation will be held on Thursday October 26, 2023(his birthday) from 9AM until service time at 11AM at Hartman Hughes in Tylertown. Brother Vann Windom will officiate the service. Burial will be at Tylertown Cemetery. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Alford; father Stanley Fortenberry; mother Frankie Fortenberry; sisters Myrna Fortenberry Stinson, Mattie (Fannie) Fortenberry Seals, and Mary Fortenberry Ware.

Survivors include his wife Donnis McAllister Fortenberry; son Steven Fortenberry (Wendy); grandson Mitch Fortenberry (Beca); along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
