Robert G. Johnson, 92 of Columbia, MS passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023 peacefully at his residence. He was born Thursday, April 2, 1931 in Tylertown, Mississippi. Robert was the youngest of 10 children. He was a member of East Columbia Baptist Church; he was the oldest living member and served as a deacon for many years. Mr. Robert had a successful career with Farm Bureau for 30 plus years. He was an avid fisherman. But his most treasured role was as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 6:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Capps Funeral Home in 270 Old Hwy 98 E, Tylertown, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Capps Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Reverend Dave Nichols will officiate. Capps Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was preceded in death by his sons Robert "Bob" Johnson, Jr. and Johnny Joe Johnson; father Robert "Bob" Johnson; mother Flora Crawford Lazarus; and 9 siblings.

Survivors include his wife of 73 years Eleanor Blackwell Johnson; son James "Jimmy" Johnson (Kem); daughter Kathy Johnson Stringer (John); grandchildren Jennifer McClendon, Scott Johnson, Paige Smith, Robert "Trey" Johnson, III, Heather Bailey and Evan Stringer; 10 great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.

Pallbearers will be Scott Johnson, Evan Stringer, Robert E Johnson IV, Johnnie Ray Copeland, Chad Blackwell, and Rudolph Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Bennett and James Johnson.

Special music will be performed by Janiece Baughman.

The Johnson family would like to say a special thank you to St. Luke Home Health and Hospice and son of the heart Johnnie Copeland for all the love and care that was given to Mr. Robert and family.
