Memorial services for Mr. Robert "Bob" McGinnis, 92, will be held at 1 P.M. on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Tylertown Baptist Church with Reverend Justin Knight officiating. Burial will be in the Family Cemetery.
Mr. McGinnis passed away Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on Friday, December 8, 2017. He was born October 21, 1925 in Duck Creek, Kansas to the late Thomas and Florence "Flo" Miller McGinnis. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife Doris Byrd McGinnis; son Bruce Henry McGinnis; and siblings Don McGinnis and Betty Stevens.
He worked on the family farm until he joined the Navy at age 17 where he served 4 years in the Navy with 2 years in World War II. He was very proud of his service and his country. After the war ended, he began a lifelong career with the pipeline and was with one of the first crews in Alaska. Bob was very active in his local American legion and participated in every event. Tylertown Baptist Church was an important part of his life with the Brotherhood Breakfast becoming the highlight of his month. He loved to hunt and fish on the Bogue Chitto River and work with leather in his spare time. Above all but God, came his time spent with family.
Survivors include his wife Paula Boyd McGinnis; sons Briggs and wife Renee Mangum McGinnis and Bobby and wife Connie Beard McGinnis; daughter Belinda McGinnis; devoted daughter-in-law Cheryl McElveen McGinnis; sister Lyle Rice of Kansas; brother Dean McGinnis and his wife Kay of Maine; eleven grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Alan McGinnis, Les McGinnis, Austin Blackwell, Garrett Golden, Drew Parish, Caden McGinnis, Garrison Robinson, Bryce McGinnis, Dean Harrison, Kiptyn Blackwell, and Nox Laird.
Visitation will be at Tylertown Baptist Church on Tuesday December 12, 2017 from 10 till 1 P.M.
