Jerry Holmes, 81 of Tylertown, Mississippi passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022 at his residence. He was born Tuesday, July 29, 1941 in Tylertown, Mississippi to the late Robert Sidney Wendell Holmes and Iola Smith Holmes. Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by brother Sandy Holmes; and sister Ginger Hollingshead,
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 from 9:00 until service at 11:00 at Capps Funeral Home. Officiating will be Bro. Buddy Day and Bro. Justin Knight. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Capps Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In 1966 Mr. Jerry graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy. He used his degree as a well-respected businessman and pharmacist in Walthall County. Mr. Jerry was a longtime member of Tylertown Baptist Church. He served as the President of the Walthall Dixie Youth Baseball, President of Walthall Chamber of Commerce, and served as a member of Walthall School Board. His favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing, especially with best friends Jimmy Williams and Terry Moak.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years Barbara Louann McKinley Holmes; sons Jeremy Holmes (Blaize) and Chase Holmes (Carol) ; grandchildren Olivia Holmes, Grant Holmes, Hallie Holmes and Maddox Holmes; sister Diane Gardner; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Hollingshead, Jeffrey Hollingshead, Eric Hollingshead, William Gardner, Christopher Gardner, and Donald Jenkinson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Les Lampton, Jimmy Williams, Terry Moak, Adris Brock, Tony Ard, Jimmy May, Chad Parish, Chris Smith, Nyles Branch, Keith Pigott, and Ken Craft.
Special music will be performed by Bro. Mike Hudson .
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the University Medical Center's Children of Mississippi.
