Obituary

Sidney Sue McEwen Langston, went home to be with the Lord on January 27, 2026 at the age of 90  surrounded by her family.

Sidney Sue was born in Jayess Mississippi on September 19, 1935 daughter of Sidney J. & Winnie N. (Bullock) McEwen.  Sue was the oldest of seven children.  She is a graduate of Carters Creek High School  Class of 1953.  She married Nolan M. Langston on March 2, 1954.

Sue worked for Bell South and AT&T her entire career and retired in 1996.  She was a member of Zoar Baptist Church and was involved in several committees at the church. She enjoyed several Young At Heart trips with her church.  Sue traveled with her daughters, families and her sisters. She always  enjoyed spending time together as a family.  She was strong in her faith and we know she is now with our Lord and reunited with her parents and siblings who went before her.

She is survived by her husband Nolan of 71 years and her two daughters, LaWanda L. Foster (Ricky) and Pamela Langston-Vanderpluym (John).  Her four grandchildren;  Rick Foster (Breanna), Adam Foster (Lauren), John Vanderpluym (Danielle) and Krystle Vanderpluym-Hansen (Shawn).  At her death she had thirteen  great-grandchildren.  Steven, Liam and Oliver (Rick), Kalee, Drew and Henry (Adam), Alyssa, Christopher, Peyton and Piper (John) and  Elizabeth, Garrick and Vivienne (Krystle).  Sue loved all of her babies and always enjoyed spending time with them.

She is survived by her sister Mary Barlow of Braxton, MS, and two brothers Harold McEwen (Beverly) of McCall Creek, MS, and Jimmy McEwen (Nanette) of Jayess, MS, and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Winnie McEwen, her mother and father-in-laws Dewey and Myrtis Langston, one brother Aubrey McEwen, two Sisters Bobbie McEwen Boyd Myers and Glenda Rae McEwen Wilson and three brother-in-laws JP Boyd, Gary Wilson and Don Barlow and one great-grandchild Baby Foster.

Funeral services will be held at Zoar Baptist Church, 11848 Hooper Rd. Baton Rouge, LA on Friday, January 30, 2026 with visitation from 9:00-11:00 with funeral service to follow at 11:00 Internment at John Felder Memorial Park Cemetery at 2pm located at  8071 W Topisaw S, Summit MS.  She will be laid to rest next to her parents.  In lieu of flowers a donation in honor of Sidney Sue McEwen Langston can be made to Felders Community Church, 1061 Campground Circle, Summit, MS  39666.

Our family thanks you for all your thoughts and prayers during this time along with the Hospice Home Care nurses, aides and the staff of the ICU at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital for all they did for her.
