Sonya C. Johnson, 78, of Magnolia, MS passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. She was born Tuesday, April 24, 1945 in McComb, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 10:00 AM until funeral service   at 1:00 PM at Hartman Hughes Funeral Home, 412 Beulah Ave. Tylertown, MS 39667. Burial will follow in the Rushing Cemetery. Brother Trent Moak will officiate. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Johnson was a successful Avon saleswoman for 30 years in the Pike and Walthall County area. She was a member of Fernwood Baptist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, and United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Sonya enjoyed knitting and was an avid genealogist.

She was preceded in death by her son Billy Joe Johnson; father Robert "Roy" Leroy Chisholm; mother Hallie Matthews Chisholm; and sister Kellon Tarver.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years James Lafayette Johnson; sons Jamie Johnson and Casey "C.E." Johnson (Nesia); daughters Tammy Kelley and Chasity Jordan; grandchildren Hallie Johnson, Tashina Thompson (Joseph), Brandi Haze (Shane), Mariea Chandler, Christopher Johnson, Kye Kelley, Lacey Howell, Payton Jordan and James Mercier; 21 great grandchildren; nephew, Jason Tarver; brother-in-law, Lonnie Tarver: along with a host of loving family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Kye Kelley, Barry Dillon, Tyler Dillon, Jimmy Hutson, Chris Kyzar and Doug Lawrence.
