Vera Mae Mitchell Fourroux, 89 of Gulfport, MS passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024. She was born Tuesday, September 18, 1934 in Tylertown, Mississippi to the late Curtis and Eva Reeves Mitchell. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at New Zion Cemetery with Reverend Winston Fortenberry officiating. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Vera was a teacher at the Assembly of God School and Mid City Baptist School. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge with the children in her classes. She also loved sewing, spending time with family and also with her friends at Lyman Senior Center, going to church and keeping in touch with her friends that she made in college.

Survivors include her sons Bert Brodie (Laura) and Steve Brodie;  daughters Ava Craig (Paul) and Cindy Shawl (Eric);  grandchildren Michael Walsh (Elizabeth), Jesse Shawl, Megan Shawl, Jacob Craig (Maura) and Adam Craig;  great grandchildren Autumn Walsh, Piper Walsh and Brodie Walsh; step grandchild Mason Craig; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.
