Wesley Aaron Brubaker
August 31, 1956 – May 20, 2026
Wesley Aaron Brubaker passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, at his home in Tylertown, Mississippi, at the age of 69. He was preceded in death by parents, Lloyd and Catherine Brubaker and sisters Kathy Brown and Tona Kempston.
He is survived by his 3 children, Andrew Brubaker and daughter-in-law Libby, Nicole Ramassar and son-in-law Terrence, and Micheal Brubaker; his grandchildren, Brianna, Lauren, and Christian Brubaker and his 2 brothers, Mike and wife Nancy, and Stormy Brubaker; and his brother-in-law Walt Kempston.
Born on August 31, 1956, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Wes’ love for engines, speed, and building things began early in life beside his father, working on go-karts and learning how things were built, repaired, and brought back to life. Even as a young man, Wes carried a mischievous spirit and a restless sense of adventure that stayed with him throughout his life.
Wes called many places home over the years. He lived in New York, where his love for music truly began with his brother Mike, and later in Canada, where that passion continued to grow. Later, his family moved to Jamaica before eventually settling in Louisiana. It was there in Louisiana that Wes met the love of his life, Kathy Brubaker, beginning a journey together that would span 51 years of marriage.
Music became part of who Wes was from an early age. He played drums in a band that helped pave his way through high school, and that love of rhythm and classic rock never left him. Blues music and classic rock were always close to his heart, especially Pink Floyd. Many evenings, you could find Wes sitting outside on his porch with a cup of coffee or a glass of whiskey nearby, listening to music drift through the night air. As the songs played, he would tap invisible drumsticks with his hands or pretend to strum a guitar along with the music. In those quiet moments, he seemed completely at peace.
To those who knew him best, Wes was more than a mechanic — he was the kind of man people counted on. Known by many as “Big Iron,” Wes had a gift for fixing things, whether it was an engine, a problem, or simply helping someone who needed a hand, except for tractors… he does not do tractors. But while Wes was known as a fixer of things, he was a creator at heart. He rarely asked for help himself, but he gave it freely to others without hesitation. He was a master with tools, someone who found pride in working with his hands and creating something with meaning.
Wes loved riding his Harley with his friends. He was a familiar face at the Harley shop and never lost the excitement that came with engines roaring to life. Over the years, he lived in many places but eventually settled in Mississippi, where he spent his remaining years in a home he truly fell in love with — the kind of place he had always dreamed of.
But beyond the engines, music, and machines was a man whose greatest love was his family and his dogs. More than anything, he wanted his children to be happy, safe, and successful in their own way. He loved them deeply and was proud of their accomplishments.
Wes was also the kind of man who rarely complained or let others see when he was hurting. His strength showed itself not through words, but through persistence, loyalty, and the steady way he showed up for the people around him.
Though Wes may no longer walk beside us, his presence lives on in the rumble of a Harley engine, the sound of classic rock drifting through the night air, the smell of coffee in the shop, and every helping hand extended without expecting anything in return. His family finds peace in imagining him sitting back with music playing loud, tapping along to the beat of a favorite song, finally at rest.
A Celebration of Life visitation and ceremony will be held on June 6, 2026, at Union Baptist Church - 345 MS-27 N, Tylertown, MS. Visitation will begin at 2pm, followed by the service at 3pm.
