William Pitt Fortenberry

Funeral services for William Pitt Fortenberry, 90, of Tylertown, MS will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Hartman-Hughes Chapel with Bro. Danny Stevens officiating. Burial will be at Crystal Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Fortenberry passed away at his residence in Tylertown, Mississippi on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. He was born July 11, 1929 in Walthall, Mississippi to the late Lillie and Otho Fortenberry. He was also preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

Pitt was a member of Crystal Springs Baptist Church. He had also served in the Army where he served during the Korean War. He enjoyed hunting, working, gardening, traveling, and playing with the grandkids. Mr. Fortenberry also enjoyed spending time with family and going to flea markets where he could browse around and see what special things he could find.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years Mary Fortenberry; son Todd (Jill) Fortenberry; daughter Lea (Kenneth) Barkley; granddaughter Ashley (Ryan) Williamson; grandson Cory (Virginia) Barkley; three great-grandchildren Drake Williamson, Reed Williamson, and Amberli Simmons; along with a host of loving friends and family.

Pallbearers are Frank Gennin, Ryan Williamson, Kenneth Barkley, John Rinkle, David Fortenberry, and Claudie Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers are Drake Williamson, Reed Williamson, and Cory Barkley,

Visitation will be at Hartman-Hughes Chapel on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m.
