Funeral services for Wilmon Van Dan , 65, of Tylertown, will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Capps Funeral Home with Bro. Buddy Day officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Van Dan passed away at his residence in Tylertown, Mississippi on Saturday, November 16, 2019. He was born August 19, 1954 in Tylertown, Mississippi to the late Betty and Oliver Van Dan. He is also preceded in death by his brother Robert Van Dan.
He was a member of Tylertown Baptist Church. Mr. Van Dan was a lifetime owner of Canoe and Trail in Tylertown, Mississippi; he was a tour guide of river trips all over the United States. Mr. Van Dan was also an accomplished archer since the age of fourteen. On July 1, 2006 he was in an accident where his three-year-old son Connor walked a mile to find help that saved his life. Wilmon loved the Lord and was known as a prayer warrior for his family.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years Kim Van Dan; son Connor Van Dan; sisters Neithea (Gerald) Wood and Patricia Weaver, brothers Gilmon (Belinda) Van Dan, Bartis (Debra) Van Dan; and sister-in-law Christel Van Dan. Alongwith a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.
Pallbearers are Russ Smith, T.J. Kennedy, John Kennedy, Alex Brumfield, Shay Hughes, and James Barber.
Honorary pallbearers are Gilmon Van Dan, Bartis Van Dan, Raymond Van Dan, Alan Wood, Wayne Baughman, Ted Dillon, Buddy Brumfield, Caleb Barnes, Denny Denman, John Mathis, Vincent Chipman, Byron Almquist, Bud King, and Ross Kennedy.
A special thanks goes out to the nurses and staff at Compassionate Care Hospice.
Visitation will be at Capps Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. And also Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 10:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM.
